Traveling can be stressful enough, the last thing you want to have to worry about is your glasses. Here are some tips for keeping your specs safe while you’re on the go.
Make sure you have a nice protective case for your glasses as well as a microfiber cloth or two for scratch-free cleaning. If your glasses came with a soft case, rather than hard one, you might want to consider picking up an aftermarket case from your local Optician or from an online retailer. Make it a habit to put your glasses right back into the case when you aren’t using them to avoid damaging or losing them.
If you do happen to have a mishap with your glasses, it’s a good idea to keep a copy of your most current prescription with you. This way, if you’re in a pinch, you can get a pair of glasses made for you when you’re out of town or, better yet, you can call A1A Optics to have a remake of your last pair of glasses made and shipped directly to where you are.
It’s also a good idea to keep an extra pair of glasses with you, especially if you’re flying. Keep one pair in your carry-on and the other in your checked luggage so you always have a pair, even if there’s a mishap with your luggage. Finally, keep a microfiber cleaning cloth and a small eyeglass repair kit with you. These are usually small, and you can throw them in your glove box or carry-on bag. If you’re on the go and notice a small issue like a loose temple or a missing screw, one of these kits can get you out of a jam until you can take your glasses in for proper cleaning and adjustment.
